Indigenous to the French island of Corsica this locality of Hermann’s tortoise, Tesduo hermanni hermanni, is one of the rarest. Typical of island animals, they are larger than their mainland counterparts and as adults they average 6-7” with the females being slightly larger then the males. Their yellow and black shell coloration with sub-ocular yellow patches make them very visually appealing and their environmental hardiness makes them a great tortoise for beginners.

This tortoises hatched on 8-7-24, currently weighing 40g, is just over 2” along the plastron, and the sex is unknown.
